Spatiotemporal Drought Risk Assessment Considering Resilience and Heterogeneous Vulnerability Factors: Lempa Transboundary River Basin in The Central American Dry Corridor

چکیده
Drought characterization and risk assessment are of great significance due to drought’s negative impact on human health, economy, ecosystem. This paper investigates drought in the Lempa River basin Central America. We applied Standardized Evapotranspiration Deficit Index (SEDI) for hazard index (DHI) calculation. Although SEDI’s applicability is theoretically proven, it has been rarely applied. generally derived from interactions between vulnerability (DVI) indices but neglects resilience’s inherent impact. Accordingly, we propose incorporating DHI, DVI, resilience (DREI) calculate (DRI). Since system factors not equally vulnerable, i.e., they heterogeneous, our methodology applies Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) find weights selected DVI computation. Finally, a geometric mean method DRI Results show rise DHI during 2006–2010 that affected DRI. depict SEDI via its relationship with El Nino-La Nina Salvador’s cereal production. research provides systematic approach useful decision-makers allocate resources more smartly or intervene Risk Reduction (DRR). also those interested socioeconomic drought.

Resilience in Transboundary Water Governance: the Okavango River Basin
When the availability of a vital resource varies between times of overabundance and extreme scarcity, management regimes must manifest flexibility and authority to adapt while maintaining legitimacy. Unfortunately, the need for adaptability often conflicts with the desire for certainty in legal and regulatory regimes, and laws that fail to account for variability often result in conflict when t...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal Analysis and Health Risk Assessment of Nitrate in Kan River Basin, Tehran: Application of IRWQI and Monte Carlo Simulation
Introduction: Monitoring and controlling water resources and using health risk assessment approaches for water pollutants are essential for health promotion programs. This study aims to determine the water quality status and its spatiotemporal variation across the Kan River Basin, explore the interrelationship between surface and groundwater quality indices, and assess the nitrate health risk i...
متن کاملRisk analysis and vulnerability assessment in flood protection and river basin management
The water-related disasters are considerably increasing worldwide in the last years. While certain trends are global (like climate change), some actions to contrast these problems have to be taken locally. In any case, the land characteristics should be known and analyzed in order to contrast the hazards and avoid their transformations into damages or disasters when exceptional events occur. Th...
متن کاملRisk Assessment of Drought, Based on IDM-VFS in the Nanpan River Basin, Yunnan Province, China
A new model for risk assessment of agricultural drought based on information diffusion method and variable fuzzy sets (IDM-VFS) was proposed. In addition, an integrated index system of agricultural drought risk was established. In the proposed model, IDM was employed to calculate the agricultural drought risk level classification standards, and then the VFS was adopted to assess the dangerousne...
متن کاملRisk assessment and drought management in the Thames basin*
A risk assessment procedure is described for use in managing a system of pumped-storage reservoirs in the Thames basin during a drought. Historical daily rainfall sequences are used as equi-probable scenarios of future rainfall. These are transformed to flow, reservoir level, and demand restriction sequences through the use of rainfall-runoff and water resource system models. The risk assessmen...
